The Brief

Collaborate with the Mental Health Commission to develop a series of training films that model best-practice responses to methamphetamine and opioid-related incidents. The project included three short films focused on methamphetamine use and one film exploring opioid overdose scenarios. Each film was grounded in current, evidence-based guidelines and designed to reflect both non-Aboriginal and culturally secure Aboriginal perspectives.

How we did it

We worked closely with the MHC project team from the ground up—diving into the literature, challenging our own preconceptions, and learning from subject matter experts. Together, we co-wrote the scripts, sourced real-world locations, cast the films, and workshopped scenes with actors. We ran camera and make-up tests and rehearsed key sequences ahead of production. Filming spanned eight days with a lean four-person crew, including our Make-Up Artist—tight, focused, and efficient.
