Film Gear info:
Canon C200 (4k raw lite) + Canon 16-35 & 24-70
DJI Ronin-MX gimbal
I chose the C200 because when shooting raw light the image quality is outstanding! But most importantly for it’s 1st class Dual Pixel auto-focus. I was blown away by the auto-focus on this camera in very tricky, predominantly blue led lights with plenty of haze.

PansonicGh5s (10bit 1080p)
We used Wedgetail UAV‘s medium drone to fly a GH5s. A micro-four thirds mirrorless camera capable of shooting 10bit 422 Full HD video internally. We knew we’d be mastering in 1080p and chose the improved colour resolution/info over more pixels. Really happy with how it performed. Certainly a much better match than any low end DJI drone.
Jason North was our outstanding pilot whilst I did my best to match his moves controlling the camera.

AMINAH BOAT + THEATRE SCENES:
Red Scarlet-w 5k R3D Zeiss ZF.2 Duclos Modded primes + Sigma Art 18-35
Our work horse camera. I’ve been shooting Red cameras since early 2013 starting with November 2011’s Red Scarlet-MX. R3D files are a joy to grade and the dragon sensor (in the Red Scarlet-w) has both outstanding color science and dynamic range. Perfect for outdoor shooting and I can pull my own focus easily on our Zacuto shoulder rig.
Probably the funniest part of this shoot was Aminah and I taking off down the river by ourselves when Bill just let us take it. Really relieved we didn’t drive into anything… and we made it back before the rain hit.
Most impressed by the dancer’s ridiculous fitness. Take after take, no complaints.
Final shout out to Gavin Docherty for his brilliant lighting of Aminah for her singing in the theatre shots.

SPECIAL THANKS to Oliver Loweth for supervising our shoot at Hale.
Aminah is an absolute pleasure to work with, really dedicated to get the best result possible and immensely collaborative. Thanks for EVERYTHING!!!
