Tell the story of BHP’s Autonomous Haulage System (AHS) rollout at South Flank—capturing the human side of advanced mining technology. The goal was to show how autonomy is being implemented on the ground, how it’s changing the way people work, and highlight the collaboration and innovation driving the transformation.
We joined the team for an overnight trip to South Flank ahead of the shoot—scouting key locations, assisting with logistics, and building a schedule to maximise efficiency on the ground. Filming was handled by a lean four-person crew: two camera operators (covering gimbal, handheld, and dual-camera interviews), a sound recordist/production assistant, and Rift—our photography partner—capturing stills. We gathered dynamic B-roll across haul roads, workshops, and operational areas. Drone cinematography played a key role in capturing the scale of South Flank and the precise coordination of autonomous trucks across the site.
