How much does it cost for a video?

Great question! The cost of producing a video can vary a lot depending on a few key factors like the video’s length, complexity and the number of outputs. The main cost factor is the time involved in the 3 stages of production: Prep, Production and Post.

For a basic video shot in the Greater Perth region (including Mandurah) with a 2 person crew, you might be looking at between $3500.00-$5000.00. However, for more elaborate videos—like ones with specialty hire equipment, advanced animation, special effects, or a full crew on set—the cost can range anywhere from $10,000 to $100,000 or more. Freelance crew rates differ to these amounts.

We’d be happy to chat with you about your specific needs and help you find a solution that fits both your budget and vision.

How long will it take for my video production to be completed?

The timeline for your video depends on the type of video you’re creating, but here’s a general breakdown of what to expect:

Pre-Production/Creative (1–2 weeks)
This is where we get everything ready! We’ll work with you on the concept, script, storyboarding, and any planning that’s needed. The more details you provide upfront, the smoother this phase goes.

Production (1–3 days)
This is the shoot day (or days), where we bring the vision to life! Depending on the complexity, it could be just one day of filming or a few days for a more involved project.

Post-Production (2–4 weeks)
Now the magic happens! We’ll start editing the video, add music, effects, and graphics, and fine-tune everything. After the first draft, you’ll get two rounds of feedback where you can request any changes.

Final Output
Once the feedback is incorporated, we’ll deliver the final video in your preferred format.

In total, expect around 4–8 weeks for most projects, depending on the complexity and how quickly feedback is provided. Of course, we’ll keep you updated along the way and make sure we hit your deadlines!

What is the process of producing a video with Alucinor Productions?

OUR VIDEO PRODUCTION PROCESS

(Three Stages. Seven Steps. Zero Guesswork.)

[Pre-Production] → [Production] → [Post-Production]

  1. 1- Strategy & Planning

Every great video starts with understanding your brand, your audience, and—most importantly—your why. We work with you to define:

  • Purpose: What problem is your video solving?
  • Audience: Who is it speaking to? What do we need to know about them?
  • Format & Distribution: Where will it be seen? Will we build interest before launch or go for a cold release?
  • Budget & Timeline: What’s realistic?

By the end of this stage, we’re all on the same page (literally—we document everything in a clear, actionable Video Brief).

  1. 2- Creative Development

Now, the fun begins. With the strategy locked in, we develop creative concepts tailored to your goals. Whether it’s a scripted narrative, documentary-style story, or high-energy brand piece, we craft ideas that work on screen, not just on paper.

  • Concept & Storyboarding – Brainstorming, refining, and nailing down a strong creative direction.
  • Scripting & Outlining – A strong hook and well-paced structure ensures an engaging, clear message.

This is where we balance ambition with execution—making sure the idea isn’t just great, but achievable within scope.

  1. 3- Pre-Production

“Fail to prepare, prepare to fail.”

  • Scheduling & Logistics – A smart schedule ensures we’re in the right place at the right time for the best visuals—because half of cinematography is just that.
  • Casting & Talent – Finding or selecting the right people for the story.
  • Crew Up – For larger projects, we scale up our crew—gaffers, grips, art department, makeup, and more.
  • Location Scouting – The right backdrop makes all the difference.
  • Art Direction & Set Design – Colours, costumes, sets, and props work together to create a cohesive, visually compelling story.

Think of this phase as preparing for battle—but with cameras instead of weapons.

  1. 4- Production (The Shoot)

Lights, camera, action—this is where the magic happens. But shooting compelling video isn’t just about hitting ‘record’ and hoping for the best.

On set, we juggle creative vision with technical precision—framing shots, lighting scenes, recording crisp audio, and, most importantly, creating an environment where talent feels safe, open, and confident on camera so we capture them at their very best.

We keep things professional but light-hearted—a relaxed crew helps talent relax, leading to better results on screen.

  1. 5- Post-Production (The Edit)

Editing isn’t just cutting clips together—it’s the craft of storytelling. A well-edited video uses rhythm, pacing, sound, subtext, and juxtaposition to hook and engage an audience on an emotional level.

Our post-production process includes:

  • Video Editing – Refining the story for maximum emotional impact.
  • Colour Grading – Crafting a distinct, polished look for your brand and story.
  • Sound Design & Mixing – Crystal-clear, immersive audio that meets platform-specific standards.
  • Motion Graphics & VFX – From 2D enhancements to high-end 3D animation, we bring in the right specialists to elevate your visuals.

We start with an initial draft, take your feedback, and refine until you’re truly satisfied.

  1. 6- Delivery & Distribution

Once the final cut is approved, we ensure your video is ready for the world. Whether it’s optimised for YouTube, social media, TV broadcast, or internal use, we deliver it in the right formats, at the highest quality.

  • Master Files on USB, hard drive, or cloud platforms.
  • Web-Optimized Versions in 1080p or 4K with correct colour/audio specs.
  • Raw Footage & Assets – You get everything—all the raw video and audio captured—giving you complete access to your project materials.

We can also assist with SEO optimization for video platforms, ensuring your content gets seen by the right audience.

  1. 7- Evaluation & Reflection

A great video is a tool, not just a piece of content—so we don’t just send you off and call it a day. We follow up to see how the video(s) performed, gather feedback, and reflect on how we can improve for future projects.

  • Did it achieve the intended results?
  • Are people engaging with it?
  • What did you love? What would you change—about the result or our process?

Because we’re not just in this to make videos—we’re here to make an impact.

How do I choose a video production company in Perth

Choosing the right video production company isn’t about finding the perfect one for every type of video—it’s about finding the best fit for your specific needs. Here are some tips to help you make an informed decision:

1. Watch Full Videos, Not Just Reels

Don’t just rely on short highlight reels. Watch complete videos to assess the style, quality, and consistency. Make sure their style aligns with your project.

2. Research Their Website and Services

Check their history, services, and specialization. Avoid companies claiming to specialize in everything—focus on those who excel in your specific type of project.

3. Check Previous Work and Client Testimonials

Look at their past clients and ask them about their experience. The production process matters as much as the final product.

4. Meet in Person

Meeting face-to-face helps you gauge the team’s vibe and professionalism. You’ll want to work with a team that listens and collaborates well.

5. Clarify Deadlines

Ensure they can meet your deadlines and agree on key milestones from pre-production to final delivery.

6. Assess Their Capabilities

Ensure they have the right skills and personnel for your project. Smaller teams may work with freelancers for specialized skills, while larger companies may have in-house staff.

7. Equipment Quality

While equipment is important, the quality of the final product matters more. Ensure they have the necessary tech for your needs (especially for high-quality visual effects or green screen work).

8. Get a Transparent Quote

Request an itemized quote so you can see where costs are allocated. This helps prevent surprises and ensures you only pay for the services you need.

In Summary

No single company is perfect for every type of video. Choose the one that specializes in the work you need and aligns with your vision, timeline, and budget. Doing your research upfront can save you time and money in the long run.
